A few weeks back I finally got my hands on the Sephora Cream Lip Stain. Mine was in 06 Forever Fuschia, it contains 0.169 oz of product. I've tried the Sephora Rouge Cream lipstick before and I loved it. So, I thought of giving this a try. At RM49.00 a piece this very pigmented product can be considered a bargain to some.
The pigmentation in this thing is crazy, one swipe and you get a full on color. There's no need to layer this product.
It is a beautiful hot pink color. A year ago, I never thought that I would be buying a really bold lip color such as this, but holy cow this color is beautiful.
How it feels on the lips
It is a stain, so it sets really really fast, therefore, you need to work quickly with this product. It is very smooth upon application, it glides on the lips. The first few times I wore it, it was slightly tacky when I apply it. However, when I tested it the third time, I exfoliated my lips and applied some Vaseline right before, and it was a lot smoother to apply. Because it is a cream product, it really clings to your lips and can be quite drying and settles into the lines and cracks on the lips the way it did on mine. It made my lips feel slightly uncomfortable after a few hours.
How long does it last?
As it is a stain it does last very long. To demonstrate how long it lasted, I have put this lip product to the test. The first test is what I like to call the sweat test, where I put it on and go to the gym for a workout and see how it holds up. Surprisingly, it held up pretty well. Here's a few snaps of me before and after going to the gym.
Now let's see how it held up after the intense sweat session. (I did drink during this time)
The second test was actually unintentional, I forgot to take it off when I went to the shower. I went through an intense pampering session in the toilet and it held up throughout the whole thing, which was pretty impressive. I first applied the product at about 10 am, went through a 3o minute cardio workout session and the last picture was taken after my pampering session and after I finished doing random chores at home which was at 4pm, the color held up for a total of 6 hours. The only think I forgot to do was eat in between, because I would have loved to see how it would hold up after eating.
At this point though, I think it was apparent how it settled into the lines and cracks on my lips which is a bit of a drawback. I feel like with most lips products it is a trade off between hydration and how long it stays on the lips. If a product is moisturizing it will not stay on the lips for a long time, if it does stain your lips and stay for a very long time on the lips, highly likely that it will be more on the drying side. This product is the latter. Furthermore, at this point, I noticed that even though it is a stain, it did smudge a little bit at this point and I had like pinkish stain all around my lips.
What I liked about it
- Very pigmented
- Beautiful fuschia color
- Glided on the lips upon application
- Stained my lips and lasted really long on my lips
- Really affordable and easily available at any Sephora outlets
What I didn't like about it
- Drying on the lips after a few hours
- Sets on the lips really fast
- Settled into the lines and cracks on my lips
- A slight uncomfortable feeling after a few hours on my lips
- Smudged and left pink stains all around my lips after a few hours
Would I re-purchase?
Absolutely, for the price I think this was a very good product because it is so pigmented and it lasts very long on the lips. This is because for someone with naturally pigmented lips like mine, some lipsticks that is supposed to be pigmented will usually fall short of that, this definitely did not disappoint me in the pigmentation department.
